PM declares war on terror . This is how The daily Star highlights the opening remarks of the newly elected Prime minister of Bangladesh. This is definitely a move to please/ payback the benefactors of PM’s government that include neighborhood powerhouse India and global powerhouse USA. However in USA, per an AFP report, the newly elected President Obama ‘declared end’ to war on terror.

দীর্ঘকাল ক্ষমতার বাইরে তো, তাই “প্রধানমন্ত্রী সুলভ” বক্তব্য তেমন করে রপ্ত হয়ে উঠে নাই। কিছুদিনের মধ্যেই রপ্ত হয়ে উঠবে সেরকমও আশা করতে পারছিনা। বারাক ওবামার কাছে ক্ষমতার দাম আছে। কষ্টার্জিত যে কোন কিছুরই মূল্য থাকে। শেখ হাসিনার নিরংকুশ বিজয়কে আর কষ্টার্জিত বলি কি করে। এই সেদিনও তো বেরোল কোন একটা কেন্দ্রে যেন এক লক্ষ পাঁচ হাজার ভোটারের মধ্যে ভোট দিয়েছেন এক লক্ষ এগারো হাজার ভোটার। আবার আরেকটি কেন্দ্রে নাকি এক গ্রামের আওয়ামী লীগ সমর্থকরা স্বস্তি প্রকাশ করেছে এই কথা বলে যে তাদের আর কেন্দ্রে গিয়ে ভোট দিতে হয়নি, সকালে উঠে তারা জানতে পারেন যে তাদের ভোট সব দেওয়া হয়ে গিয়েছে এবং আল্লাহ্র রহমতে সেই কেন্দ্র থেকে আওয়ামী লীগ বিপূল ভোটে জয়লাভ করেছে।

আমি অপেক্ষা করছি দেখার জন্যে আওয়ামী লীগ যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচারের কাজে কদ্দূর এগোয়।
আমাদের প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেছেন যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার ইউএন-এর সাহায্য নিয়েই করা হবে। এখন ১৪ই ডিসেম্বারে আমাদের বুদ্ধিজীবিদের হত্যা করার পিছনে যদি প্রকৃতপক্ষেই সিআইএর কোন ভূমিকা থেকে থাকে, তবে ইউএন সেই ঘটনার বিচারে প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সাথে কদ্দূর কোঅপারেট করেন সেটা দেখতে হবে। আরও ইন্টারেস্টিং ঘটনা ঘটবে জহির রায়হানের অন্তর্ধানের বিচার করতে গেলে। যা শুনতে পাই এবং যুদ্ধের সময় চোখ কান খোলা রাখা কিছু মুরব্বী যা যা বলেন তা যদি সত্যি হয় তবে আওয়ামী লীগের পরম বন্ধু এই বিচারে কি রিঅ্যাকশান দেখাবে তা দেখার বিষয়।

Well, whenever a bomb goes off in India, fingers are pointed towards Bangladesh. Even on 11/26, although almost all parties concerned seem convinced that the Pak State on some level engineered the attack (and solely the Pak state)–I am aware of voices in the media who seem to think that Bangladeshis had something to do with it. Purely on the level of rhetoric, I know that Sheikh Hasina’s message struck a very positive cord in West Bengal and the rest of India that followed the Bangladeshi elections. I mean, what harm can such rhetoric do? I think thawing is always a good thing as far Indo-bang relations are concerned…no harm in trying to hold on to the pigtails of India Shining.
