Politics in Bangladesh lately has turned very depressing. Different TV discussion shows like ‘Tritiyo Matra’ etc are testimony to the insane rift in our society. However if you look at this ” Tritiyo Matra” type program in Al Jazeera TV, you will definitely feel, ” Hey are not there yet, we are definitely much better off”.
But the question is, are we too far away from this sort of divide?

I think there will always be amicable relations among our politicians. After all they are not ideologically different. Shia and Sunni hate each other like water in boiling oil. Once I met a Shia from Bahrain who used to curse people saying that “May your grave have remnants of a damned Sunni”. And, another Sunni called them “Kafir” outright. But, our politicians only crave for power and money. So, does not matter how fierce they are in political Colosseum, they are equally helpful when it is their dirty mutual interest at stake.
You will be surprised to know that Mujib and Zia’s killers used to rent apartment in the same building in Canada and they used to drink from same glass!

Bhai, if the game is “we are not THAT bad yet” we can find million examples from around the world, and we always will. Just as million people can also use us as an example that “we are not THAT bad yet” as well.
I don’t find this to be any comfort.

It’s very cold in Bangladesh now. In this bone chilling cold, first thing you do is to look for a fire or some other warm comfort zone. Then you can start the screaming with all the complaints about the extreme cold weather.
And you definitely do not want to submerse yourself in neck deep freezing water and start doing all the ‘chilla Chilli’ about cold.
If I find some comfort in not seeing a bloody civil war in Bangladesh what’s wrong in it?

flying hawk 51,
Very interesting comments. How close were you to know that they “drank from the same glass?”
Rumi,
Very correct-its getting very very depressing n though Tritiyo Matra is a forum where you get many good points on curent political situation -it is also a proof why the nation need better political candidates.
Naeem,
Lets keep hoping and praying that any civil disturbance and definitely not Iraq style erupts here. This will not benefit the politicians who already have spent large amount of money in the Politcal game and definitely they need to be refunded or refilled- therefore this motivation alone will subsequently make all come to some terms.
)ne question I want to ask all friends here: Can any one tell me why LDP joined the alliance and stay as an independent 0pposition Party?? They have plenty of money and each members have been in election and do claim with great certainity of their win again. Plus their sole agenda while forming was to eradicate corruption and specially to bring back wealth stolen by the family members of top leaders of BNP- this could have excited voters to make them win. Wonder what changed their mind??
